Snibston Discovery Park Audio Tour

We are very pleased to announce an exciting new project for 2009, the Watch This Space Snibston Discovery Park Audio Tour. We will create an audio tour around Snibston Discovery Park,  guiding participants around the site, highlighting the historical, cultural and natural heritage of the area. Each track will draw attention to the events and the people that helped shape the area in which the listener stands. The finished audio tour will offer the public the rare insight into unknown anecdotes and forgotten heritage through an exciting new creative interpretation. Leicester Cultural Quarter Audio Tour Preview

Over the last year we have been busy creating an Audio Tour around Leicester's Cultural Quarter that celebrates the unique history of the area. The Audio Tour uses an exhilarating blend of interviews, found sounds, creative text and atmospheric music to reveal the many layers and lives that have made this area such a vibrant place. The CQ art audio tour, along with information on other artworks commissioned for Leicester's Cultural Quarter, is now available to download at www.leicester.gov.uk/cqart. Download and enjoy the tour!

The St. Georges Cultural Quarter - Watch this Space – Audio Tour  was commissioned in 2008 by Leicester City Council, with funding from Leicester City Council,  European Regional Development Funding Objective 2, Liveability, S106 Developer Contributions.

Hansel and Gretel Audio Walk at Fermynwoods Contemporary Art

Following on from our extremely successful Hidden Tracks Audio Tour events in 2006, we have teamed up once again with our friends at Fermynwoods Contemporary Art to create a wacky family-friendly re-working of the classic Hansel and Gretel story.  Participants using an MP3 player listen to an intriguing rendition of this popular tale, while exploring the nearby woodlands and fields in a new and unique way, with lots of surprises on route. The walk ends up at the amazing installation at Sudborough Green Lodge, where artist Richard Woods has covered the building in daring retro designs. There will be a morning (10am- 12 noon) and afternoon(2- 4pm) event on Sunday 2nd November and Sunday 9th November as well as special education days for school groups. For more information visit www.fermynwoods.co.uk/

The Leicester Cultural Quarter audio tour is tantalisingly close to completion so we will post the link up here as soon as it goes live and then you can all download the tracks and the map and find out some unexpected nuggets of information as you walk around Leicester's St Georges area. It could be a little while until the project is officially launched as it will coincide with a whole programme of commissions from Leicester City Council that will be unveiled next Spring. So do be patient and we will let you know as soon as there is any news.

Well this month we've started work on our next Watch This Space audio tour for the cultural quarter in Leicester. This generally involves a lot of  time reading books, interviewing a varied selection of people and drinking quite a few cups of tea.  If anyone out there does has a connection with the St. Georges area in Leicester  and would like to share anecdotes, memories,  historical facts and cups of tea please get in contact. The bit below offers a slightly more detailed idea of the project

Sharing Memories and Anecdotes of the St. Georges Area

Watch This Space, an arts organisation in Leicester has been commissioned to create an audio tour around the St. Georges area. The company would like to talk to members of the  public who have a connection with the St. Georges area, whether it was working in the many factories or a special date at the Odeon Cinema or the Leicester Palais. The other buildings that we would like to know more about are: Guild of Disabled, The Exchange Buildings, The Cherub Building, The Squirrel Building, Charles Police Station, The International Hotel, The Mercury Building, Secular Hall, Clarence House and the Weighbridge on Humberstone gate. If you would like to share your anecdotes and memories of the St.Georges area we would love to hear from you. Please contact  Esther Simpson on 0116 2616809 or email info@watch-this-space.org.uk.
