One of two Watch This Space projects taking place in Northamptonshire this summer, SHINE will see us illuminate and bring to life some of the county's most important historic churches. As we gather your stories and memories, we are visiting each community to spread the word about the project and show you how to make beautiful lanterns to bring along to each event in the autumn.

There's been good news today for the latest Watch This Space project, at Canons Ashby country house near Daventry, which has just been granted the Inspire Mark.

We are delighted to announce that Watch This Space will be working again with the National Trust to create a unique event at Canons Ashby on 16th and 17th July 2011. Inspired by a Sports Day that took place at Canons Ashby in 1879 the event will re-create elements of that day but with an innovative artistic twist, offering a packed weekend of sporting, artistic and heritage based activities.
WTS will be creating several new performance installations for the rooms inside the house whilst the grounds and gardens will be transformed into a Victorian Country Gathering. Visitors will be able to take part in a variety of arts & crafts workshops and of course you’ll be able to participate in some of the original sporting activities.
Prior to the weekend an extensive participatory program will take place, delivering poetry, craft and photography workshops, the work created will form an integral element of the weekend’s activities.

As I sit in our office watching the snow fall and clutching my mug of hot coffee to keep the chill out, I realise that 2010 is nearly over and what a busy year its’ been. Whispers from a Rickshaw has toured all around the UK, from Glasgow to London audiences have enjoyed a mesmerising ride in a rickshaw, whilst we enjoyed working with a whole bunch of new artists, It was a wonderful project that we hope to expand. MBD was then commissioned to be the artistic directors of a large-scale outreach project in the North East which saw them create an interactive multimedia installation encouraging teenagers to look at a healthier life style. Back in the region we created a new Watch This Space audio tour for Naesby Battle Site exploring the civil war. On the road FIB was presented at The National Theatre's Watch This Space Season for a weeks run, whilst Hansel and Gretel went on tour culminating in MBD winning the George Kitson prize for the greatest contribution to the advancement of street arts in 2010. Not a bad year considering a couple of babies were born (just to keep the artistic directors even busier). But that was 2010, what does 2011 have in store? Well it will finally see us complete the Four Seasons programme of work. I can't wait to see all four large-scale installations in Lincoln during the digital arts festival. Watch This Space will be creating a new site-specific project at the National Trust property Canons Ashby. Further a field MBD will be working with Reial Companyia de Teatre de Catalunya, on an intimate performance for museum spaces that will be touring to high profile street arts festivals across Europe and it looks highly likely that we will be creating a new project in Singapore. So it looks set to be another very busy year for MBD!
